Romania joins the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes – January 23, 2013

On January 23, 2013 the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) announced that Romania has joined the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes. 

OECD Secretary General Angel Gurria said, ““We are delighted to welcome Romania as a new Global Forum member.  Romania will now be among the jurisdictions that are directly involved in the international effort to make tax systems worldwide transparent and fair to all, and I look forward to strengthening our mutual cooperation in this important field.

The Global Forum’s aim is to ensure that all jurisdictions adhere to the same high standard of international co-operation in tax matters and governments come together to fight and prevent tax evasion. Membership of the Global Forum keeps growing – a clear indication of the value of its work to countries worldwide.
