“LGS joins Investor Statement on Bangladesh” – The Sustainability Report – July 12, 2013

In an article published on The Sustainability Report on July 12, 2013 entitled, “LGS joins Investor Statement on Bangladesh,” Rachel Alembakis reports that “Local Government Super (LGS) has signed the Investor Statement on Bangladesh, joining more than 190 shareholders and investors which are calling on brands and retailers to implement the core labour standard of the International Labor Organisation (ILO).

LGS, the AU$7 billion superannuation fund for local government and related employers in New South Wales, is an investor in Australian companies that outsource textile production to Bangladesh.  LGS signed on to the accord after hearing about it through the UN Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) clearinghouse, said Bill Hartnett, head of sustainability at LGS.”
