In an article published on Ethical Investor on July 18, 2013 Ross Kendall examines the different approaches of Kmart Australia (a subsidiary of Wesfarmers) and Australian pension fund Local Government Super to the two accidents in Bangladesh which killed over 1,500 garment workers during the past six months.
According to the article, “Kmart will stick with sourcing clothes from producers in Bangladesh while Local Government Super takes a collective engagement approach to remedy the “systemic problem” of worker safety in the country.”
