Emerging Markets ESG – 20th edition of Updated Database of Contacts in the Field of Socially Responsible Investment (SRI) published today – Monday, July 6, 2015

Today, Monday, July 6, 2015 Emerging Markets ESG publishes the 20th edition of its Updated Database of Contacts in the Field of Socially Responsible Investment (SRI). The 20th edition of the database includes entries from seven new countries: Argentina, Bahamas, Dominican Republic, Lebanon, Macedonia, Mongolia and Panama

The Partners for Financial Stability (PFS) Program published an inaugural Database of Contacts in the Field of SRI on the capital markets research page of the PFS Program website on October 25, 2002. The inaugural database contained contact information about more than 275 organizations whose SRI activities were reported online and/or in the financial press. Thereafter, the PFS Program updated the database eight times.

Emerging Markets ESG published a 10th edition of the database in July 2010, an 11th edition in December 2010, a 12th edition in July 2011, a 13th edition in December 2011, a 14th edition in July 2012, a 15th edition in December 2012, a 16th edition in June 2013, a 17th edition in February 2014, an 18th edition in July 2014 and a 19th edition in January 2015.

This 20th edition of the database, with current information as of June 30, 2015, contains 1,600 conferences/events and 1,838 organizations divided among the following 14 categories: Academia (91 institutions); Awards and Prizes (46); Companies – Listed Companies (459); Exchanges (34): Financial Institutions (290); Governmental Organizations (77); Indices (97), Media (88); Networks (118); Non-Governmental Organizations (267); Private-Public Partnerships (18); Professional and Trade Associations (101); Rating and Research (148); and Standard-Setting Organizations (24).

A table of contents appears as the first worksheet and a statistics worksheet appears as the last worksheet in the database. Each worksheet is sorted alphabetically by institution; each worksheet may also be re-sorted alphabetically by country.

The updated database includes institutions from 96 countries in Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, North America and South America. This edition of the database contains new entries from the following countries:

The 19th edition of the database contained 1,491 conferences/events and 1,819 organizations in 89 countries. Thus, this 20th edition contains 109 new conferences/events and 39 new organizations.

Several observations may be made about the updated database, which was compiled between January 1 and June 30, 2015:

First, the scope and size of the database continue to grow. Although there was a smaller amount of institutions added to this addition of the database, the additions represent a wide range of countries and institutional types.

Second, the geographical diversity of the database continues to expand. In addition to the first entries from Argentina, Bahamas, Dominican Republic, Lebanon, Macedonia, Mongolia and Panama mentioned above, the 20th edition of the database also includes a first index in Malaysia and a first institution in Paraguay.

Third, as noted in the 12 most recent editions of the database, the number of conferences and events on SRI topics continues to increase. During the first half of 2015 this trend continued.

The number of conferences and events on SRI topics increased to 1,600; from 1,491 as of December 31, 2014; 1,399 as of June 30, 2014; and 1,251 as of December 31, 2013. The figure was 1,139 on June 30, 2013; 956 on December 31, 2012; 807 on June 30, 2012; 657 on December 30, 2011; 551 on July 29, 2011; and 423 on December 31, 2010.

Of the 1,600 conferences/events listed in the 20th edition of the database, 448 took place in the USA, 258 in the UK, 79 in Switzerland, 69 in France, 61 in Germany, 53 in the Netherlands, 50 in Canada, 46 in Australia, 30 in Belgium, 21 in South Africa, 21 in Spain, 16 in Italy, 16 in Singapore, 15 in China, 14 in Hong Kong, 13 in United Arab Emirates, 12 in Brazil, 12 in India, 12 in Mexico and 11 in Denmark.

The 20th edition of the database contains 198 webinars, compared with 183 webinars as of December 31, 2014; 168 webinars as of June 30, 2014; 140 webinars as of December 31, 2013; 116 webinars as of June 31, 2013; and 89 webinars as of December 31, 2012.

Every effort was made to update contact information in each worksheet. If a reader notes any out-of-date information, please contact Emerging Markets ESG. We will update the entry.

Emerging Markets ESG would appreciate your constructive criticism and feedback regarding the database.

The 21st edition of the updated database will be published in January 2016.
