On June 12, 2017 the UN Sustainable Stock Exchanges (SSE) Initiative published an update about its campaign to encourage stock exchanges to publish guidance for listed companies on reporting on environmental, social and governance (ESG) impact, performance and risks.
“Campaign by the numbers:
- 23 exchanges committed to issue ESG reporting guidance to issuers in 2016.
- By June 2017, 17 exchanges have followed through on that commitment.
- This has more than doubled the number of exchange-issued reporting guides worldwide (starting with 15 in 2015).
- Only 2 exchanges have committed in 2017, with 39 markets still lacking a commitment or guide. We have developed a letter template for investors to engage exchanges directly.
