“Leading Global Palm Oil Supplier Announces Labor Reform” – TriplePundit – November 1, 2017

On November 1, 2017 TriplePundit reported that IOI Group of Malaysia had announced three new labor policies.

First, IOI stated it,will implement a “no recruitment fee” policy.

Second. it stated it is “now committed to pay all of its workers a minimum wage and overtime as necessary to stay compliant with local regulations.”

Third, it stated it “would not stand in the way of labor unions who seek access to the company’s palm oil plantations.”

Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) have criticized the company and other Southeast Asian palm oil plantations for repressive labor policies.  Several NGOs welcomed the announcement and looked forward to IOI’s action to implement the policies.
