A brief blog post published on the Risk and Compliance Journal of the The Wall Street Journal on September 5, 2104 reports that “The Commerce Department published a list of smelters and refiners of so-called conflict minerals, but warned it ‘does not have the ability to distinguish’ which are being used to fund militia groups. Despite that admission, the list will likely help companies in their quests to comply with conflict-mineral reporting requirements.
