On May 1, 2015 Rupert Scofield, co-founder and current president and CEO of FINCA, contributed an article to the global views column of the Devex internet site. In the article, he posits that “the microfinance revolution is an evolving one that has yet to run its full course.”
According to Mr. Scofield, “The truth about microfinance is still out there. We need more research that employs different methodologies, not just randomized control tials (RCTs).” This statement is in reference to a recent article in the American Economics Journal (AEJ) summarizing six RCT-based studies of microfinance.
